A vintage Parker 61 Insignia fountain pen in rolled gold, manufactured in USA circa 1960s.
It is in excellent condition, with no damage, only minor wear on the body commensurate with age and use. The pen bears a double jewel stone. The arrow inlaid in front of the nib is present and intact. The iridium tip of the nib is intact. The capillary filling system is in working condition.
The Parker advertising campaign for the 1956 Christmas season likens the revolutionary 61 to a pen from Outer Space, was on the mind of the American public at that time.
The first fountain pen that actually fills itself, requiring no action from the user. The pen has no button, no lever, no plunger, no squeeze bar, and no cartridge or converter. The pen sucks up a fill by capillary action.
• Advertised by Parker as 'Pen from Outer Space' in Christmas 1956.
• Comes with a very nice Parker clamshell box, which works perfectly but has ink stains and wear marks as you can see in the pictures here.
