The Conway Stewart number 85L is the Oversized Large or Long example of these Marble Conways at 137mm capped. Often this style and era – 1940s-1950s – of Conway Stewart pens measure 125mm. This pen is jewel-like in its colour brilliance. The Ruby, Scarlet and Rose with Golden vein in cracked ice style marble effect is made of Celluloid.
The clip lever and ring are yellow gold plated. The ‘Conway Stewart 85L – Made in England’ barrel imprint is deep and crisp.
The 14k medium line firm flex nib is a joy to use. It writes with a fluid and scratch-free line at normal pressure. Perfect for day to day writing. But this nib also has flex, allowing for line width variation on the down stroke by applying a little pressure, so it can write up to Double Broad. Very creative line full of personality. Great nib and a perfect introduction to flex for someone who has never used a flex nib.
The pen has been fully serviced and cleaned. A new sac fitted then re-assembled.
