Conway Stewart Dinkie Fountain Pen & Pencil Set Red Ripple VGC Boxed 1940s
The Conway Stewart Dinkie 526 woodgrain fountain pen paired with the matching No. 2N Duro-Point mechanical pencil in an Art Deco presentation box is a rare vintage British writing set from the late 1920s to early 1930s.
Pen Model: Conway Stewart Dinkie No. 526 (compact ring-top or pocket lever-filler)
Pencil Model: Conway Stewart Duro-Point No. 2N (twist-action propelling pencil)
Woodgrain pattern (hard rubber / ebonite or celluloid finish popular in early Conway Stewart production) with gold-filled trim.
Made in London, England
14k solid gold nib
Original Art Deco-style manufacturer presentation box.
The Dinkie is a miniature pen (around 93mm capped), originally marketed as a practical pocket or lady's pen
Filling Mechanism: Lever-filler on the fountain pen (requires an internal rubber ink sac, which typically needs replacement/resacking on vintage finds), and a twist mechanism on the Duro-Point pencil
Rarity: Woodgrain finishes combined with the No. 2N pencil and original Deco box are hard to find intact
More detail:
Lovely set in excellent condition
Strong barrel imprints on pen and pencil the pencil imprint still has its gold fill
A new ink sac will be required before writing with the pen. Gold ring is missing from the end of the pen
Gold trims in superb condition
Nib feed has matching woodgrain pattern
Feels as though the pencil mechanism is working but there is only a small amount of lead in there. Refills are available.
