I have quite a few of these classy maple stands for showing off fountain pens. I obtained them many years ago from a pen shop owner and they were used in shop window displays.
The wood features distinct, small, circular swirls and tiny dark specks scattered unevenly across the surface, which resemble tiny birds' eyes. This is a naturally occurring grain anomaly found almost exclusively in hard maple trees. They are all different – some are lighter in colour or have more bird’s eyes. It has the classic creamy-white to light golden-honey coloration typical of maple wood when finished.
They are 168mm long and 41mm tall, as you can see in the last two photos.
